Booking
Pick a car, choose your pickup and return times, and select Book. The first time you book we check a few things in order: your date of birth, your phone number (we text you a code), and your driver’s license. Then you pay and the booking is made. You only do the checks once.
You need to be at least 21, have a valid driver’s license that does not expire before your trip ends, a phone number that can receive texts, and a credit or debit card. You also need insurance: buy a protection plan at checkout or show proof of your own coverage.
A person on our team reviews every new driver’s license. Until that review is done your booking shows as pending verification. If we cannot approve the license, the booking is cancelled and you get a full refund.
Kapi is a marketplace. Each car belongs to a host, and the car page shows who hosts it. Our first host is Riddhi Rides LLC, a local rental company. Kapi (KAPI LLC) runs the website, takes payment, and handles support and damage claims.
Only drivers named on the rental agreement may drive. Every driver must be at least 21 and hold a valid license. Ask support before your trip if you want to add a driver.
Payment
The daily price on search and car pages already includes Kapi’s trip fee. Taxes are added at checkout, where every charge is listed on its own line before you pay: trip price, trip fee, protection (if you choose it) and taxes.
Your card is charged when you book. We do not hold a security deposit at booking. We keep your card on file and may charge it later only for trip changes you ask for, tolls and tickets, fees that were disclosed to you before you booked (such as late return or cleaning), and damage claims decided under our damage process.
Major credit and debit cards. Payments are processed by Stripe. Kapi never sees or stores your full card number.
We email a receipt after you pay. You can also download a PDF receipt any time from the booking page under My Trips. It lists the trip price, trip fee, protection, taxes, the card used and your booking reference.
Insurance
Yes. You need both collision coverage (damage to the car) and liability coverage (damage or injury to others). Kapi and the host do not provide insurance to guests. You can buy coverage from Bonzah at checkout, or show proof of your own coverage. We review your proof before pickup.
Bonzah coverage is sold by Pablow, Inc. dba Bonzah.com, a licensed insurance broker. It is optional and is for drivers 21 and older on trips of 30 days or less. If you buy it, claims under that policy go to Bonzah. It may overlap with coverage you already have.
Some credit cards include rental car coverage, but it usually covers damage to the car only, not liability. If you rely on a card benefit, you still need liability coverage from Bonzah or your own policy.
Cancellation
Yes, if you cancel more than 24 hours before your trip starts. You also get a full refund if you cancel within 1 hour of booking, whenever the trip starts.
We keep a cancellation fee (one day’s rental rate for trips longer than 2 days, or half a day’s rate for trips of 2 days or less, plus the tax on it) and the trip fee. The rest of the trip price and its tax is refunded to your card. If you do not cancel and do not pick up the car, no refund is issued.
We send cancellation refunds right away. Your bank usually shows the refund within 5 to 10 business days. Early-return refunds are sent after the host inspects the car.
You get a full refund automatically, and we email you to confirm it.
Damage
A host can file a damage claim within 7 days after your trip ends. The claim must include photos and an itemized estimate or invoice. We email you the claim and its evidence. You then have 7 days to accept it or dispute it and upload your own photos. Kapi reviews both sides and decides. Only an approved amount is charged to your card on file.
Take clear photos of every side of the car, the interior, the fuel or charge level and the odometer at pickup and again at return. Upload them from My Trips. Photos with a time stamp are the strongest evidence in a dispute.
Make sure everyone is safe and call 911 if anyone is hurt or the law requires a police report. Take photos, exchange details with the other driver, and tell the host and Kapi support right away. If you bought Bonzah coverage, also start a claim with Bonzah.
Pickup & return
Your host shares pickup details before your trip. Check your booking page and your email. Pickup and return times are in the car’s local time zone.
Message the host as soon as you know. To keep the car longer, request an extension from My Trips; it is approved if the car is free. A host may set a late-return fee for returns without an approved extension; any such fee must be disclosed to you before you book.
You pay every toll you incur, at cost. Cars may have a toll transponder (E-ZPass in Massachusetts, FasTrak in California) or be billed by plate. Toll bills often arrive weeks later, so we may charge your card for tolls up to 90 days after your trip and send you the details.
A host may set a daily mileage limit, a charge for extra miles, and a fee if the car comes back with less fuel or charge than it left with. Any such limit or fee must be disclosed to you before you book. If you are not sure, ask your host in the trip chat before pickup, and return the car at the level you found it.
