Trust & safety

How we keep every trip safe.

Every guest is verified before they drive. Insurance choices are spelled out before you pay. Damage claims need evidence, and you can always answer them.

Guest verification

Before anyone books, we check four things, cheapest first, so nobody uploads a license only to find out they are too young:

  1. Email — you confirm the address you sign up with.
  2. Date of birth — you must be 21 or older to book.
  3. Phone — we text a one-time code to confirm the number is yours.
  4. Driver’s license — you enter the license details, then upload photos. A person on our team reviews it before your trip.

Until the license is approved, a booking shows as pending verification. If we cannot approve it, the booking is cancelled and fully refunded. A license must not expire before the trip ends.

02

Approved hosts only

Every host applies first. We review each application, including whether the host is a business or a private owner and what insurance they carry, before any car can be listed. Our first host is Riddhi Rides LLC, a local rental company.

Insurance, in plain words

Every trip needs two kinds of coverage: collision (damage to the car) and liability (damage or injury to others). Kapi and the host do not provide insurance to guests. You choose one of two paths at checkout:

  • Buy coverage from Bonzah. Sold by Pablow, Inc. dba Bonzah.com, a licensed broker. It is optional, for drivers 21 and older, on trips of 30 days or less.
  • Use your own coverage. Upload proof of your policy. A credit card benefit can cover collision only, so you still need liability. We review your proof before pickup.

A fair damage process

If a host says a car was damaged on your trip, this is what happens:

  1. The host files a claim within 7 days after the trip, with photos and an itemized estimate or invoice.
  2. We email you the claim and all of its evidence.
  3. You have 7 days to accept it, or dispute it and upload your own photos and documents.
  4. Kapi reviews both sides and decides. Only an approved amount is charged to your card on file.

The best protection is your own photos. Take pictures of every side of the car, the interior, the fuel or charge level and the odometer at pickup and at return, and upload them from My Trips. In California, claims for cars from rental-company hosts are limited to the repair costs and fees state law allows.

05

Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. Kapi never sees or stores your full card number. The price on search and car pages already includes our trip fee; checkout lists every charge on its own line before you pay. We do not hold a security deposit at booking.

Cancel more than 24 hours before the trip for a full refund, or within 1 hour of booking whenever the trip starts. Read the cancellation policy →

06

Your data

We collect what we need to verify drivers and run trips: your contact details, date of birth, driver’s license and payment details (held by Stripe). License photos are used to verify you and to resolve trip disputes. You can review and correct your details from your profile, and delete your account at any time. We keep the records the law requires for each past trip.
